Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic, relapsing and often lifelong disorder. Approximately 1 in 20 of us in the UK are affected by IBS.

IBS is characterised by a range of symptoms experienced within the digestive system, such as:

  • Abdominal pain or discomfort
  • A change in bowel habit
  • Bloating and/or swelling of the stomach
  • Flatulence
  • Nausea
  • Tiredness

With all this going on, it is understandable that there is a strong link between IBS symptoms and symptoms of stress, anxiety and/or low mood.
