Injury treated: Lateral ligament (ATFL) sprain – left ankle
Services: Physiotherapy
“I sprained my ankle at the end of March 2015, but my ankle kept swelling during and after training. Crystal Palace Physio Group helped me immensely. They assessed my ankle and found I had an ATF ligament sprain that needed treatment. Furthermore they found that I had lost some balance on the left side; this was also affecting my dives. I had four treatments leading up to the Junior Elites and Chris at the [Jubilee] Centre gave me exercises to concentrate on each week to build up the strength in the ankle and improve my balance. These sessions at the [Jubilee] Centre made a huge difference to my recovery. When I originally did the injury I was worried that I would not be fit enough to compete at the Junior Elites, which in turn would affect my future chances of being selected by England for Rome and for the Assessment Camp for the National Squad. However, thanks to Chris at Crystal Palace Physio Group, I was able to compete at the Junior Elites and achieve two Golds, a Silver and a Bronze medal. I also achieved my goals for this year to be selected to represent England in Rome in July and to be invited to the Assessment Camp to try out for the National Squad. I still have one session of physio (17th June) to check my ankle is fully recovered from injury, especially after an intensive week at the Junior Elites and the fact that I am now back to a full training schedule.
‘Chris was professional, supportive and reassuring. He gave me the boost I needed after my injury and definitely helped me to achieve my goals for this year.”
