We deliver Mental Health support and treatment within Corporate Organisation, Government Bodies, NHS, and Insurance groups. Our Psychological Therapies Service (PTS) is accredited by the APPTs programme which is a joint venture between the Royal College of Psychiatrists and The British Psychological Society.

Stepped Model of Care

Our evidence-based, stepped care approach to mental health, is underpinned by NICE guidelines ensuring clinically appropriate pathways for everyone. The stepped model of care creates a framework for best practice in relation to EAP and mental health services.

Vita Health Group view our mental health as being equally important as our physical health with our mental health being on a continuum.

All individuals experience mental health and at varying times in their lives they will move up and down this continuum. With the right support we can ensure that employees are supported with their mental health.

Our integrated services within mental health spans supporting wellness and good mental health with a modern, governed (EAP) service through to the right clinical intervention for compromised through to ill health on a mental health spectrum.

Early identification and intervention are key to ensuring that treatment can be provided in the least invasive and most timely way ensuring that we are able to provide.

For our business and organisational customers who have engaged Vita Health Group as their EAP provider, Steps 1 – 2 are delivered as part of our confidential EAP service.

We are currently the only EAP provider to offer services that comply with the  NICE Guidelines for the treatment of diagnosable mental health conditions, in that we have an established and modularised cCBT Guided Self-Help platform (with over 40 targeted modules) supported by telephonic sessions with a mental health practitioner (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)) included within our standard service, so that we can treat issues such as depression and anxiety in-line with best practice rather than just support symptom management like other providers.

Step 1: Enhancement, early identification and intervention

Working with organisations to ensure that preventative services are in place and that all key stakeholders within an organisation such as Occupational Health departments, Employee Assistance Programmes, Managers and HR teams are supported in being able to work with their employees to identify the most appropriate pathway for individuals and ensuring rapid access to clinically appropriate provision is provided whether within Vita Health Group or NHS services. Support services to individual clients at Step 1 includes structured wellbeing counselling services or coaching both provided by our team

Step 2: Mild / Moderate mental ill health

This treatment step specifically targets those who have started to experience symptoms of mental ill health and fall within the mild – moderate category. It is based on a supported and guided, self- help model in line with Department of Health Evidence-based Guidance on Depression and Anxiety and presents an innovative approach to addressing mental health issues in the workplace.

Step 3: Moderate / Severe mental ill health

This treatment step provides a higher intensity level of treatment with more senior and specialist qualified psychological therapists / counsellors. This step targets those who present with a more moderate – severe level of mental ill health. Treatment can be delivered in person via telephone, secure video-link or face to face dependent upon clinical need and individual choice.

Step 4: Complex mental ill health

This treatment step is for those individuals presenting with more complex mental ill health, often requiring a specialist multi-disciplinary approach which may include one of the following:

 

  • Specialist psychological therapy
  • Consultant Psychiatrist assessment
  • Neuro-psychological assessment

Employee Assistance Programme

Vita Health Group’s EAP, previously branded as Workplace Wellness, has been a leading provider of EAP services in the UK for over 29 years and we are extremely experienced in supporting all types of organisations.

We are currently the only EAP provider to offer services that comply with the  NICE Guidelines for the treatment of diagnosable mental health conditions, in that we have an established and modulised cCBT Guided Self-Help platform (with over 40 targeted modules) supported by telephonic sessions with a mental health practitioner (Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)) included within our standard service, so that we can treat issues such as depression and anxiety in-line with best practice rather than just support symptom management like other providers.

When combined with our broader Mental Health service we can provide a full end to end service for mental health both in terms of prevention and treatment.

Our Employee Assistance Programme is a cost effective, strategic workforce tool that enhances employee wellbeing and resilience, impacting positively on productivity, absence, engagement, performance, talent retention, risk management, and business continuity by supporting with those social determinants that can impact upon an individual’s health.

The service is available 24/7 and is completely confidential. Our specially trained, legal and information team can help to resolve issues around: debt, legal concerns, consumer and care etc. whilst our counsellors are on hand to manage any emotional concerns. Our manager support team can provide invaluable support to your managers to maximise their team’s performance and personal impact and effectiveness.

Our fully clinically managed network of over 1000 fully BACP accredited counsellors and therapists deliver session-based support.

Our uniquely positive approach to promotion, utilising digital and in-person support creates an awareness and wellbeing culture and removes the assumption that the EAP is only for a crisis, leading to earlier interventions and higher levels of usage, maximising the impact of support and return on investment.

Mental Health Treatment Services

Vita Health Group has delivered Psychological Therapy Services for over 10 years and across a broad range of industries, achieving exceptional recovery and return to work rates.

We work with our customers to provide proactive reporting and occupational support for their employees. We provide regular communication between employees, the organisations they work for and clinical operations via work focussed management plans.

Our evidence-based approach to provision of mental health services includes the delivery of therapies both face-to-face and remotely according to client need / choice. The stepped model of care ensures that the right mode of intervention is offered to a client according to the working diagnosis and severity of their presenting condition and in line with NICE guidance.
We then work with each employee under our care to help them understand the recommended pathway that is right for them and within scope of services agreed.

All interventions are evidence-based delivering latest best practice.

Mental Health Expert Assessment

A Mental Health Expert Assessment is required for any client entering our occupationally focussed full mental health services. Clients may be referred from our EAP service team or referred directly from Occupational Health or HR professionals.

Vita Health Group operate a fully clinically governed model which means that at mental health expert assessment, clinical measures and an expert clinical view will provide a working diagnosis and ensure an evidence-based approach to treatment pathway is provided. Clinical measures also allow the measurement and demonstration of case progress and successes.

Our team conduct an Expert Mental Health Assessment via telephone with an employee with the following key aims:

  • Establish a working diagnosis – definition of presenting issue
  • Conduct a mental state and full risk assessment
  • Provide psychoeducation to support best engagement in the services available and actively support wellbeing
  • Collaboratively work with an individual to enable them to make an informed choice regarding their treatment – (convenience/location/telephone/in-person/face-to-face).
  • Place individual in correct treatment pathway
  • Advise organisation on progress and make occupational focused recommendations

Psychological Therapy treatment is then delivered in line with Nice Guidance and the stepped model of care

Step 2

Our Guided Self-Help provision is delivered digitally by Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (cCBT) or via workbook (Bibliotherapy) according to individual client choice. Guided self-help means learning Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) techniques which can help the client manage their symptoms, with the support of a practitioner. Where possible, we encourage clients to engage with our cCBT option due to its flexible and bespoke delivery and our exceptional outcomes and testimonials from clients.

cCBT

Vita Health Group selected ‘MIndDistrict’ as their chosen cCBT software provider. The senior clinical and operational team have experienced a variety of cCBT programmes, and the selection has been made based on fulfilling criteria in clinical, operational quality and suitability for the corporate and organisational market. The work with our digital partner has allowed Vita to develop bespoke treatment pathways and additional wellbeing tools that support sustained recovery for our clients.

Bibliotherapy

 

Those clients who choose bibliotherapy as their guided self-help option will receive a NICE approved workbook to their home address that is focussed on their specific problem that will be based on Depression or Anxiety. The client works through reading and exercises in the book on a weekly basis to support their recovery. They will have booked telephone appointments with a psychological wellbeing practitioner for up to 6 sessions. The PWP supports the client in their work and therapeutic progress. Feedback and results from our bibliotherapy are very positive with exceptional return to work outcomes. Client appreciate having their own reference and work that forms part of managing a sustained recovery and maintaining a relapse prevention plan.

Step 3

We provide CBT “in person via telephone, secure video link of face to face Time-limited courses of therapy are delivered in line with the NICE evidence base for the clients’ mental health presentation and sessions are only delivered where clinically indicated.

As part of our treatments at step 3 (moderate-severe), we can also provide other evidence-based therapies. The following therapies may to offered to client where Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is not the preferred intervention:

  • Dynamic interpersonal Therapy (DIT) is a short-term, highly structured form of psychotherapy that is used to treat depression and anxiety.
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is a time-limited and structured psychotherapy for Moderate to Severe Depression. A central idea in IPT is that psychological symptoms, such as depressed mood, can be understood as a response to current difficulties in our everyday interactions with others.
  • Counselling for Depression (CFD) is an integrated, time limited approach comprising of Person Centred and Emotion Focused therapy.

Therapeutic engagement is a driving theme within Vita Health Group to optimise the client journey and we provide clients clarity around confidentiality and attendance and manage expectations around homework to support the changes they need to make for their recovery.

Each client works with their therapist towards therapeutic goals that includes a work focus as standard. The development of relapse prevention strategies is an important aspect of treatment and ensure that our clients manage sustained recovery

Case Management

For each person entering our service their treatment will be fully case managed through to discharge with a focus on returning employees to work with a full and sustained function.

Our case managers are senior clinicians and experts in their field and are registered with the highest professional regulatory bodies i.e. with HCPC, NMC or GMC

Our Clinical Director, Jane Muston, co-authored the NHS IAPT curriculum and supports flexible delivery models that suit a modern workforce whilst delivering innovation and Clinical Excellence within the Vita Health Group Focus

Outcomes

Our clients’ progress and outcomes are clinically measured at each treatment session and we achieve 86% recovery across all our client groups.

We benchmark ourselves against national standard outcomes and are proud to achieve 86% recovery for all clients entering our service compared to the national average of 50%

 99% of our clients are in work at discharge from our mental health services and 96% of those are in work at full duties.

Sustained recovery is achieved at 6- month follow ups.

Clinical Expertise

Our Corporate Mental health team are led by our Clinical Director for Mental Health and our Clinical Lead for Mental Health supported by Vita Health Groups Quality Assurance and Safety Steering Group. Robust Clinical Governance underpins all of our delivery

Individual and service performance is monitored using clinical outcomes, contract service level agreements and equally important user experience feedback.

Our team consist of a range of experienced and qualified therapists and clinicians:

Psychological therapists

Psychological therapists are trained mental health professionals who can help people to deal with problems that significantly interfere with their lives. Some psychological therapists in our service are trained as clinical or counselling psychologists, some as counsellors or psychotherapists and some as cognitive behavioural therapists. All are accredited with their professional bodies

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners

Our team of Psychological well-being practitioners have all undergone the nationally recognised and accredited post graduate diploma in Low intensity (Step 2) Cognitive Behaviour Therapies

The self-help materials may be in the form of leaflets or booklets, or available online. You will have a choice about whether you wish to access a self-help programme on a computer. All online material is bespeaking to you, has a large library on content which you can access via app, phone, PC or Tablet and you will have access to all your material for 12 months.

Our practitioners will guide you through the programme, whether paper based, or computer based and help you with any difficulties that may arise.

Counsellors

Our Counsellors are all BACP Registered or Accredited and work in accordance to the BACP ethical framework.

We provide wellbeing counselling for psychological distress relating to stress, relationship issues and bereavement. 

Psychiatry

We have a national network of consultant psychiatrists who either work or have worked as consultant psychiatrists in the NHS. They are all on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council.

All our clinicians receive clinical supervision and clinical case management in line with best practice and regulatory requirements.

We provide a safe, supportive environment for our team to enable them to flourish in their roles. We believe that a happy and professional developed workforce ensures that excellent treatment and customer service is provided to every person who enters our service.
