How is Rehabilitation Therapy different from Physiotherapy?

Our rehabilitation therapists are experts in exercise and education. They have significant training in rehabilitation and exercise but also educating regarding flare ups, pain, sleep, and quality of life. The sessions will be very active, working through your exercise program to improve at home adherence as well as understanding the “why” behind the exercises given.

Who can be treated with Rehabilitation Therapy?

All patients will first be seen by our physiotherapists to ensure they are appropriate to continue with our rehabilitation therapists. Rehabilitation Therapy is best for people who are having low to moderate levels of pain. It is not well suited if you have severe pain that is new, difficulty with basic movements or if you have symptoms such as numbness. Currently, you are only able to see a rehabilitation therapist if you are funding your own treatment.

How can Rehabilitation Therapy Benefit You?

Our experienced rehabilitation therapists have a holistic view when providing your treatment. They aim to improve your quality of life using exercise and education. These have both been shown to provide the following benefits:

  • Preventing, recognising and managing illnesses
  • Training for maximum independence
  • Facilitating maximum psychosocial coping and adaptation by patient and family
  • Enhancing quality of life
  • Preventing recurrent conditions

To do this, the treatment you receive will include functional testing, education, and a supervised exercise program. Some massage may be included within the session, but it will be primarily exercise focused. Our treatments aim to get you back to the things you love and feel as good or better than it was before your injury occurred.

You can currently be seen by our Rehabilitation Therapists at our Crystal Palace clinic.
